Adoption Steps

Once you become a client of COI, you will be given access to our ‘member only’ area of the website. You will get detailed information about each step and all the documents you need to submit so that we can complete your dossier.

Step 1 : Initiate home study either with COI or with your local agency
Step 2 : File I600A form with INS
Step 3 : Fill out COI application and enter program
Step 4 : Send documents for dossier preparation
Step 5 : Child Referral
Step 6 : Finalize Dossier & Submit to Indian agency
Step 7 : Receive No Objection Certificate from Indian Agency
Step 8 : Send dossier to orphanage for scrutiny
Step 9 : File with Family Court in India & obtain guardianship
Step 10 : Apply for passport, obtain visa from US Consulate
Step 11 : Travel with child
Step 12 : Post Placement and waiting period
Step 13 : Adoption in US
