*The NRI Program is designed for families who are US citizens of Indian origin or US Permanent Residents who hold an Indian passport. OCI and PIO’s also fall into this category. In this program, the fees are reduced from $4000 to $2000 if the NRI family finds the child and the Indian agency is able to refer the child to the family and can work with COI. We offer these services at the same discounted fees that we offer to our Special Needs families.

This depends on the state where your relative lives and the attorney we partner with. This fee is collected by COI and disbursed to the attorney. Attorney fees include the time spent on your case, court costs, filing fees, guardianship processing. |

*The Family Adoption Program is designed for NRI families who want to adopt a first degree relative (nephew or niece). Call us to find out more information about how you can adopt through family adoption.
Other Expenses You Can Expect
There will be other expenses that you can expect. These will be paid to the different organizations directly. These expenses include:

Application
Fee $500
The is a nonrefundable application
fee. This fee is for the time we spend in reviewing your COI Adoption Application and for reviewing your homestudy report (if available).
Home Study Fee $1,250 (If
COI Provides)
If you live in Ohio, then COI will provide this service; otherwise you need to find a licensed social
worker in your state of residence. The social worker will make multiple visits to your home and evaulate your family and determine if you qualify to adopt. COI can provide your home study agency with the India home study guidelines and we can review the draft of your homestudy report. We partner very well wiht homestudy agencies. Please call for tips on finding a home study agency.
Administrative & Dossier
Preparation Fee
This fee is for all adoption coodination activities in US and India and for preparing your dossier according to guidelines of India. We coordinate all activities in India from CARA NOC guardianship, passport, and immigration. We will also help plan your trip to India. You will be billed when COI receives and approves
your home study. (This portion is nonrefundable if the
family withdraws.)
India Program Fee
This is the fee that is paid to the orphanage in India. We collect the fee and disburse to the orphanage. Some orphanages accept less than the CARA approved amount of $3500. The fee includes: background investigation
of the child, social services, medical, food, and clothing
expenses for child, accepting legal responsibility for
the child, liaison with government and agency authorities,
legal fees, court costs, and passport fees in India. This is due when you accept the referral and with your dossier documents.
Travel to India
One parent must travel to India to receive
the child. Parents who travel make their own travel
arrangements with COI’s guidance. COI uses several
travel agencies and receives discounted fares to India.
The fee varies depending on location and the time of
the year.
Post placement Fee $1,250 (If COI provides)
India requires a total of 4 post-placement social worker reports every 6 months for the first two years until finalization of adoption in US. It is a good idea for the same home study agency to provide the post-placement reports as well.
Grants
