Volunteers

COI would like to invite you to be a volunteer. There is a great deal to be done and we all need to work together to make a dent into the orphan problem of India. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact us at volunteer@childrenofindia.org

There are many ways that you can help us. Here are some of them:

Be a mentor for a non-NRI family:
Many non-NRI families who adopt from India need your help and support to help them with learning about the Indian culture so that their children will have a connection with their birthplace. You can teach them the customs of India, its cuisine, and introduce them to some of your other Indian friends. This is a wonderful way to make a new friend and best of all, you are helping a family in need of a connection with India.

Promote Adoption:
You can promote the services provided by ‘Children of India’ in your local community, church, temple, or your network of friends & colleagues. It is important for people to understand about the plight of orphans and have the urgency to get involved.

Volunteer at an Indian Orphanage: You can volunteer at an orphanage in India. What better way to use your vacation and help out some precious children. We are currently working with our network of orphanages in India to create a volunteer program.

Be an International Adoption Intern:
As a non-profit organization, all COI internships are unpaid. The International Adoption Intern will work with international adoption staff to learn the process of international adoptions; speak with prospective adoptive parents; obtain photos, videos, and audio of COI parents sharing their experiences during the adoptions. Qualifications: good organizational and communication skills; competence in Microsoft Word and other Microsoft programs; reliability and flexibility; and willingness to learn and understand issues experienced by adoptive parents. Three to nine month commitment; this could be a work from home opportunity.

Help with Fundraising:
You help COI to raise funds by putting together fund raising events in your local area. All funds raised by COI or its volunteers will directly benefit orphans of India. There are no overheads and all donated monies are earmarked for orphans.

If you have other creative ways to help orphans of India, please let us know. We would love to hear from you.
